The Legend of the First Bean King
as told by Soul, Messenger of the Bean God
Hear now the tale carried upon the oldest winds, spoken only by those who remember the First Harvest.
I am Soul, Messenger of the Bean God, and these are the deeds of Miki, the Bean King.
Before the kingdoms bore their names and before the mountains learned to cast their shadows, the Bean God placed a single Sacred Bean upon the earth.
It was not a treasure of gold nor a weapon of war. It was a symbol of comfort, focus, and unwavering spirit, meant for those who found strength in its quiet presence.
Many passed it by. Only one knelt. That one was Miki.
The Bean God looked upon him and proclaimed, “Rise, faithful one. From this day until the stars grow cold, you shall bear the title of Bean King.”
“Let none bring shame to the comforts that steady the soul.”
And Miki rose. Where armies carried banners, he carried the Sacred Bean. Where kings sought conquest, he sought understanding.
His courage was measured not by the foes he defeated, but by the hearts he gave confidence to.
Yet none knew that beside him walked another faithful servant. His queen, the noble Key, concealed her devotion from the eyes of the world.
Hidden beneath her cloak rested a polished bean, carried in silent reverence.
Though her faith was unseen, the Bean God knew every quiet prayer and counted her among the greatest of believers.
I followed the Bean King across forests older than memory, over mountains crowned with snow, and through halls where doubt ruled like a tyrant.
Wherever mockery spread, Miki stood firm and spoke the Ancient Decree: “What brings peace to one soul shall never be condemned by another.”
At those words, the darkness broke. Fear fled. Those who had hidden their own small comforts stepped into the light without shame.
When the final harvest moon rose, the Bean God welcomed Miki and Key into the Eternal Granary, where the Sacred Bean rests upon a throne of emerald light.
It is said that on quiet nights, those who find comfort in the smallest of things may still hear my voice carried on the wind:
“Honor the Bean. Honor one another. For even the smallest seed may grow into the greatest legend.”
Thus ends the Chronicle of Miki, the First Bean King, whose legend shall endure as long as the harvest returns.
